Oil on Canvas, 9" X 11"
This is another work which was completed on site several years ago, during one of many excursions with my friend, Jean-Paul. (He is mentioned during an earlier post.)
It depicts a scene at the locks in Ste. Anne de Bellevue, a lively community on the western tip of the island of Montreal
We began painting in mid morning, when people were slow and sparse. Around noon a few onlookers developed into a thick flock, full of questions and comments. J-P quit his painting and began holding court with several of the more attractive members of our entourage. It was always pleasant. I remember finishing the painting later the same day once I had arrived downtown and closed my door upon the outer world.
This small work is spontaneous. It caricatures people within the afternoon setting.
It has a certain charm, I believe...
The work is for sale: $395
